Shiga Kogen
Shiga Kogen, in Nagano prefecture, is the biggest ski resort in Japan, with the highest peak. Because it is so high up, the ski season starts early in Shiga Kogen, with snowfall as early as mid-November.
Ichinose Ski Resort in Shiga Kogen is the perfect destination for your next ski adventure. Renowned for its powdery snow and diverse terrain, Ichinose offers something for everyone, from beginners to advanced skiers.
Our ski camp in Ichinose combines top-notch instruction with the natural beauty of the region. The ski-in-ski-out accommodation at Hotel Khuls is ideal for families with young children, not that experienced skiers complain about the convenience of skiing straight from hotel to ski lift!
Upcoming: Dec 2024

Hotel Khuls is a cosy 40-room Japanese ski hotel, with ninety percent of the rooms in the style of Japanese tatami rooms. On a recent visit during summer, we saw hundreds of logs sitting outside the hotel. The owner Yamamoto-san explained that these logs are for the fireplace in the lobby over the long winter season.

Hotel Khuls offers full-board accommodation, with buffet dinner in the cafeteria every evening. To mix things up a bit, we do one pizza night (the hotel has a pizzeria) and one sushi night (delivery from a well-known kaiten sushi restaurant nearby), as well as a night out to an izakaya.
Every Yamayama ski package comes with apres-ski sake and wine tasting included. We are into natural sake and minimal intervention wine, and love sharing them with our guests.
